Alicja Bień – Advocate

PARTNER / Honorary Consul of France in Łódź

Founder and partner of the Law Firm, attorney-at-law with 25 years of experience. She leads projects of strategic importance for major enterprises. She assists foreign entities in entering the Polish market and developing their business activities in Poland.

• Born in 1971 in Łódź.
• In May 2016, she was awarded the insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour – the highest distinction conferred by the French state.
• In May 2016, she also received the distinction “For Merit to the Bar.”
• In June 2023, she was awarded the Medal of the 600th Anniversary of Łódź.

Education

• In 1993, after a one-year stay in Grenoble, France, she obtained a Diploma in French Law from Pierre Mendès France University Grenoble II.
• In 1994, she graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Łódź, defending her master’s thesis at the Chair of Civil Law.
• In 1994–1995, she completed Postgraduate Studies in European Law, awarded with a certificate by the University of Łódź and Utrecht University (Netherlands).
• In 1997, she undertook an internship at the Council of Europe – the European Court of Human Rights, and subsequently completed a one-year course for lawyers representing parties before this Court.
• In 1999, she completed an internship at a Law Firm in Belgium (Charleroi – Wallonia).
• She completed her attorney apprenticeship in 1997–2001.
• Since April 2001, she has been running her own legal practice.
• In 2003, she attended a six-month postgraduate program on European Funds at the University of Łódź.
• In 2005, she completed Postgraduate Studies in French Law at the French Law School, jointly organized by the University of Łódź and the University of Tours.
• In 2023, she graduated from the Women Leaders Academy of Henryka Bochniarz.

Additional Activities

• From 2001 to 2021, she was a member of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France, based in Paris, later serving as the Chamber’s representative in France.
• From 2008 to 2011, she lectured on negotiation techniques at the French Law School at the University of Łódź – classes were conducted in French.
• From 2008 to 2011, she served as Deputy Disciplinary Ombudsman at the District Bar Council in Łódź.
• From 2010 to 2013, she was a member of the Committee for Training of Trainee Attorneys at the District Bar Council in Łódź.
• From 2011 to 2016, she served as a board member, and from 2021 to 2024 as a member of the Audit Committee of the Alliance Française Łódź Association.
• Since January 2012, she has held the position of Honorary Consul of France in Łódź.
• In March 2015, she was honored with the title “VIP Alumnus” of the University of Łódź.
• From 2016 to 2021, she conducted courses for MBA students at the Polish-French Management Studies at the University of Łódź – lecturing in French on the fundamentals of Polish labor law and business law.
• Since 2018, she has been a board member of the Polish Section of the Henri Capitant Association (Association Henri Capitant).
• In 2023, she was awarded the Medal of the Henri Capitant Association (Association Henri Capitant).
• Since 2024, she has been serving as a board member – Secretary General – of the Association of Members of the Legion of Honour and the National Order of Merit.
• She is co-founder of droitpolonais.fr, an informational platform on Polish law for French and francophone audiences.
• She actively participates in academic and international conferences.
