She was born in 1971 in Łódź. In 1993, after a year in Grenoble, France, she obtained the French Law Degree at the University Pierre Mendes France Grenoble II. In 1994 she graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź , defending her thesis for the Master of Law degree at the Chair of Civil Law. From 1994 to 1995 she completed post-graduate studies on European Law receiving a certificate of the University of Łódź and University in Utrecht (Holland).
Having knowledge of French law and language she underwent legal training in the Council of Europe – European Court of Human Rights – in 1997, and next she had one year’s course for attorneys representing parties before this Court. In 1999 she received internship at Legal Office of attorneys Bernard Rolland and Vincent Grevy in Belgium (Charleroi in Walloon). She underwent her attorney’s traineeship in 1997 – 2001. Since April 2001 she has been running her own legal practice.
In 2003 she pursued half-year studies in European Funds, University of Łódź. From 2003 to 2005, already as a practising attorney, she completed post-graduate studies at French Law School, University of Łódź and University in Tours. Since 2008 she has been lecturing on negotiation techniques at the School of French Law, University of Łódź. The lectures are given in French. Since 2016, he has been giving lectures to MBA program students at the Polish-French Management Studies at the University of Łódź – she lectures on labor law and business law, and teaches in French.
In 2008-2011 she was the Deputy Disciplinary Spokesman, and in 2010-2013 she was a member of the Apprenticeship Training Committee at the Circuit Bar Council in Łódź.
Since 2001 she has been a member, and since 2009 a representative of Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France with its official seat in Paris. In December 2019, she was elected a member of the Chamber Board.
Since January 2012 she has been a Honorary Consul of France in Łódź.
In March 2015, she was awarded the title of “VIP graduate” of the University of Lodz.
She is the secretary general of the Polish section of the Henri Capitant Association and a founding member of the French Association Abroad (Union des Français de l’Etranger), in which she is responsible for the legal aspects of operations.
On 12st May 2016 Alicja Bień was awarded the Insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour by the Ambassador of France Pierre Buhler.
On 21st May 2016 Alicja Bień was awarded by the Supreme Bar Council with “Adwokatura Zasłużonym” award.
She is a co-founder of droitpolonais.fr – a website promoting knowledge about Polish law among French-speaking people.
She has a fluent command of the following foreign languages: French, English and Russian.
